This semester, our team at Hill Communications had the privilege of collaborating with the Princeton Blairstown Center, an organization dedicated to serving young people, primarily from historically marginalized communities. Their mission focuses on nurturing social-emotional skills through experiential, environmental and adventure-based programming. Our goal was to revamp their website, making it more accessible and engaging for their target audience while aligning with their mission of empowering and supporting marginalized youth.
Before diving into the redesign process, we assessed the existing website's challenges. Navigation was complex, with too many tabs and sections that made finding information a daunting task. The design felt dated and lacked the vibrant appeal needed to capture visitors' attention. Using the insights we gathered from our audit, we modernized the website by incorporating fresh fonts and a color palette that reflected the Princeton Blairstown Center’s connection with nature. We streamlined the navigation, breaking down complex information into easily digestible sections, ensuring that visitors could find what they needed effortlessly.
In addition to the website redesign, we collaborated with Hill Communication's talented graphics team to revamp the client’s newsletters. They were able to align the newsletters with the updated website's aesthetics and branding, ensuring a cohesive communication experience across platforms.
This project taught us invaluable lessons in user-centric design, strategic content creation and effective collaboration with clients. Our journey with the Princeton Blairstown Center laid a solid foundation for future projects, emphasizing the importance of accessibility, engagement and aligning design with mission goals.
This semester, our team included Account Supervisor Fiona Flynn; Account Associates Lexi Blank, Rylee Dang, Chyler Rosenberg; Intern Claire King; and myself as Account Executive. Their dedication to learning the intricacies of website design was instrumental in our success. We also thank the Princeton Blairstown Center for entrusting us with this project and look forward to continuing our partnership.
