This semester was full of twists and turns for our account team — however, this unpredictability prepared us better for the industry than any cookie-cutter experience could have.
Our team, led by supervisor Kendall Hymes, was a smaller group than typically assembled at Hill Comm. Julian Frucht, Andi Oates and Jillian Ward served as account associates while I was account executive. We unfortunately did not have a freshman intern, but this smaller group size served to create a tight-knit and highly focused team.
Another unique challenge we faced this semester was not receiving a client until a few weeks into the semester, shortening our working period. In February, we were paired with Frintz, a service for creating free online prints, and they immediately reciprocated our eagerness to get to work. Despite this late start, we were able to make significant progress with Frintz over the semester. We pitched campaign ideas and compiled lists of media contacts, formally met with the client as a full team, and even began planning an in-person event for a welcome week in Syracuse this fall.
This semester our team encapsulated everything that it means to work in the field of public relations. We were faced with unexpected challenges and asked to complete tasks ranging from research to graphics development — all important skills to have in the industry. However, this is the kind of experience that makes Hill Comm so valuable. As our work with Frintz progresses from ideating into executing, we look forward to continuing this partnership and making Frintz a recurring client for Hill Comm.
